Southwold and Suffolk (again!) July 20-23 2020

Continuing the social distancing outings with a return to our favourite site for just a few days, only 1.5 hours away from home! Can’t go to Europe, so we make the most of what we’ve got. This place is perfect for biking around the country lanes and lo! and behold we found a new country pub that we’ll definitely be going back to (The Eel’s Foot Inn, near RSPB Minsmere). We use Bertie’s shower mostly because we have a serviced pitch and so no need to carry water a long distance. I continue the story as usual with pictures …

All set up with the awning and essential items, after a coffee and cake – time for a nap!
Can;t go anywhere without the bikes, and BBQ 🙂
Lots of space around at this site, probably why we like it so much.
All of the roads around this site are just like this, perfect for cycling.
OK, it’s sunny but a bit fresh, so we wrap up on opur way to Southwold (about 6 miles away).
We take a picture of ‘Peppa Pig’ in a muddy puddle and send it to our granddaughter who is a big fan!
Just over the bridge from Walberswick, this is the bottom end of Southwold beach.
Looking over to Walberswick beach
That’s Southwold town and pier in the distance

back at the site, we tell Freddie he’s got enough room to play cricket here 🙂
Oh boy, this got us thinking. Just opposite the pub this cottage is for sale – we check it out online and it is really nice.
The main road junction outside the pub
The pub – as you can see with social distancing in place and a queue has formed to get served!
The back of the pub, a huge garden with tables/chairs – and our bikes together with several others. It also has a pizza oven outside, we had a most perfect pizza each – unbelievable quality.
This is definitely Adnams country
That time of year
As you can see, we now have a towbar and the bikes can go on there now – leaving ample room for the rolled up awning in the garage. The kid’s play area is just over the bushes, but they don’t make any noise after about 8pm.
That’s the site office and shop and facilities – the best we know so far.
On the same site are some static caravans opposite us, they have a nice plot and outlook and compared to some holiday camps they are not crammed together. Might consider one of these once (if!) we get tired of the motorhome.
