Sept 5th 2021 A short trip away for me and Denise, with a stop at Aust on the way to share Freddie’s birthday.

Freddie and me and Rich cycle across the Severn bridge to Chepstow and back.
Sept 6th 2021 In the morning we set off to a small CL site at Dunmere, close to Bodmin.

The nice thing about this CL site is it is limited to just 6 caravans/motorhomes and it’s a stone’s throw from the cycle path known as the Camel Trail. The camel trail runs from Bodmin to Padstow via Wadebridge. I’d cycle most mornings to Wadebridge along the Camel Trail for the ‘bread run’.
Sept 7th 2021 I usually take a few photos of the site, just at the same time to get my bearings etc.. This place is quiet and has an adjoining lake which was a trout fishery.

In the afternoon, I catch the bus to Padstow. From Padstow, I catch another bus to Newquay airport where I’ll pick up a rental car. That was some bus ride, a double decker bus driving down beautiful little country lanes along the north Cornwall coast – and it was the first time I’d actually used my bus pass!

I manage to take a picture from the bus.
Sept 8th 2021 We make a trip to Fowey and walk around the town and harbour etc..

Sept 9th 2021 We drive along the north coast to Newquay and the surrounding area. We stop for lunch close to the beach at Mawgan Porth …

In the afternoon, we head for the National Trust Lanhydrock estate close to Bodmin …

Something very special about a large house like this and looking around the kitchens!

and the gardens of course!

Sept 10th 2021 We have to return the rental car to Newquay airport, so Denise has to make the same bus journey in reverse!

Waiting for a bus to Padstow.

The smallest airport I’ve been to for a while!

Back at the CL site, I get a much stronger sense of smell of drains. I reckon it’s because my neighbour is just letting his grey waste soak into the hedge next where we have our awning and sit at the table. However, on a later trip to France – that smell got much worse so it might not have been due to this neighbour after all.
Sept 12th 2021 We actually drove back to Aust on the 11th, but entering the village in the motorhome I accidentally clipped the wing mirror of a transit van – oops! Dealing with that took up most of the day. So on the 12th, Nic, Freddie and myself rode cycles across the Severn Bridge …

We spent some time in the village because they had some kind of cycle event with the finish line at the house …

Giving Allegra some confidence in cycling, Bertie pitched up on the drive!
